I have a business in Garland, how does City of Garland Commercial Waste Service work?

If you have general questions or inquiries, please email SanitationCommercial@GarlandTx.gov or call 972-205-3500 ext. 2 for more information about all our Commercial Services offerings. You can also visit our Commercial Services web page.

The City of Garland allows authorized waste haulers to operate with Garland City limits. All businesses in Garland should verify that their waste hauler has an active franchise agreement in place to operate with City limits. Please review the list of approved haulers prior to beginning service with any waste company.

Please note that all commercial and residential customers are required to establish a City of Garland utility account to receive City of Garland commercial waste service. All services will be billed on a monthly basis and a 12-month service agreement must be signed to establish service. Charges for services will appear on the City of Garland utilities statement Indicated as “Sanitation.”

I have a Commercial Trash or Recycling Front-Load Dumpster (weekly scheduled collection) :

  • If you need to change the container size or collection frequency of a front-load commercial dumpster, we will provide a Service Agreement Addendum that reflects the requested changes within two business days.
  • To arrange for an extra haul, contact our Commercial Team by email or phone by 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. Any requests made after 10 a.m. will be scheduled the next business day.
  • You may request to have a gravity locking device installed on your dumpster. There is a one-time fee to cover the cost of the locking device.
  • My container doesn’t appear to have been serviced on my scheduled day, what do I do?
    • Our drivers make every effort to service all containers at the same times on their scheduled day. Please do not hesitate to call us at 972-205-3500 ext. 2 to confirm with our Dispatch if your location is behind schedule or if the container was uncollectable.
    • It is a customer’s responsibility to notify our staff of a missed container within one business day. If our logs and/or blocked container photos indicate that we attempted to service your container but were unable to, a return trip fee will be assessed. If we determine that the driver did miss the scheduled pickup, a truck will be rerouted to service your container at no additional charge.
    • It is a customer’s responsibility to be certain that access to a container is kept clear at all times and that any vehicles are at least ten feet away from the container. If a container is blocked or a vehicle is parked too close, the driver may move on to his next schedule location. To have the truck return, a return trip fee will be assessed .

I have an Open Top Roll Off Dumpster:

  • All open top roll off containers must be emptied once every 30 days or a non-haul fee equal to the haul rate will be charged to your account.
  • Open top roll off containers are assessed a monthly rental fee.
  • To schedule your roll off dumpster to be emptied and reset at your location or emptied and removed from your location, email or phone the Commercial Team by no later than 3 PM and it will be scheduled, subject to availability, on the next business day.
  • All open top roll off containers are charged per haul based on the size of container. Each size container has a max weight allowed. Each ton overweight will be charged an overweight fee.
