Health Department

The City of Garland's commitment to improving the physical lives of its residents is evidenced by its unique services. The Health Department provides services and programs to minimize the risk of illness to the general population, increases access to health care, and protects the environmental integrity of the city. Public Health Services

Garland's Health Department is the only municipal "full service" health department in Texas and offers clinic services to Garland's most vulnerable residents. Established in 1979, Clinical Services, located at 206 Carver Street, houses four full-time registered nurses and provides immunizations, well child exams, travel vaccines, tuberculosis screening, communicable disease prevention, and community health education to area residents. An outreach specialist on staff also assists other Garland clinics in providing free vaccines to uninsured/underinsured children. Clinical Services was awarded the 2010 Certificate of Excellence for the high rate of immunization coverage in Garland by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
